Crail is the oldest of the East Neuk burghs, described in the 15th Century by James II of Scotland as “A fringe of gold on a beggar’s mantle”.  Crail was confirmed as a Royal Burgh by Robert the Bruce in 1310 and developed from the harbour and 12th century castle.

With the surrounding East Neuk more recently described as Scotland’s ‘east coast Riviera’, there can be no doubt that Crail is one of the most picturesque and charming fishing villages you’ll ever visit.

From its quaint harbour to its timeless wynds there is something very special indeed about this beautiful village and one that visitors come back to time after time.
